The backpack I have been looking for!
Rebecca M.· Review provided by monos.com · July 23, 2024
I have been on the look out for a professional backpack for sometime. The Metro Backpack as really impressed me. I have worn it commuting around New York as well as on a week long overseas trip that involved daily walking and visits to the office.

First thing, this backpack looks GOOD. It has very clean lines and the material feels great to the touch. I have been using it without the attachment on the front so far, though I do think it looks nice with it on as well. I haven't been using it, as I don't like it taking up space on the subway. Instead I put all of my daily necessities (sunglasses, hand wipes, airpods, keys, notebook, etc) inside the attachment and set it inside my backpack.

Second, it holds a lot and the structured shape of the backpack keeps things in place. The bottom is sturdy and the way the backpack is constructed makes it stand up straight. I have placed things in the bottom that I don't necessarily need to grab all the time but need to have on me. For travel, I place my Metro Hanging Toiletry Case at the bottom and it fits perfectly. I keep my water bottle on one side. Some people complain that it doesn't have a water bottle cage on the side, but I haven't found this to be an issue. The zippers go almost all the way down the sides of the bag, so it is easy to unzip one side to grab my water bottle and then place it back. I really like that it is inside the bag, instead of creating more bulk on the sides. The front zipper pocket is great for a sweater or shoes.

When I first got it, I thought that the straps looked a little light weight and maybe uncomfortable. However, I've worn it now for most of a month and it has been surprisingly comfortable. I am quite small, so I did have to pull the straps all the way up, but in that position the bag sits perfectly and I don't notice myself adjusting the straps at all. My back also doesn't hurt after wearing it for longer periods of time. I don't think it would be ideal for very long walking trips, but even for several hours it hasn't bothered me beyond the fact that I am simply carrying weight on my body.

It looks good, feels comfortable, and carries a lot for a bag of its size. I am so happy with this backpack and plan on using it for a long time to come.
The Almost Perfect Metro Backpack for Travel

This backpack is almost perfect.

The backpack itself is well designed. It is easy to carry, is comfortable on my back and slides under the airline seat with no problem. It is easy to pack and fits my laptop as well as clothes and shoes for a quick overnight trip.

The bag is designed with with a detachable front metro kit that slides and attaches securely onto the front of the backpack. This is a great feature for some extra packing space and a spot to store quick to grab items. However, this detachable metro kit does not have any handles nor any straps, nor any way to add a detachable strap. Once it is no longer snapped on to the backpack, it has to be held in the hands. This is inconvenient and, if traveling, really not safe to use by itself. There is no way to use this metro kit independently as a crossbody bag. I'd suggest adding loops on each side so that a detachable strap could be clipped to it. I actually took my bag to a leather worker and had this added so that I could use the metro kit bag independently.
Other than that, the actual backpack is well designed and I really do like it.
If looking for a spacious travel backpack that looks sleek and fits a lot of items, I would encourage anyone to consider Monos.
Perfection

TL/DR: I purchased the Monos Metro backpack in saddle tan. The packaging was very thoughtful, and provided excellent protection to my bag as it was delivered. Tracking was easy and accurate as well.
It was delivered exactly as described. The color translates flawlessly. What you see in the photos is what you will get.

I have been stalking this bag for nearly four years. As a single parent with two small children in this economy, I do not often shop for myself. I am so pleased that I finally did. I had been shopping around for something similar at a lesser price point, but there is no such thing.
My metro backpack has every perfect detail. I love the key clip that buttons into the included Classic Kit, this makes my life so much easier when my hands are full. I can easily remove it when I’m running errands, and it comfortably holds my wallet, keys, phone, and bandaids (moms get it 😉).
The backpack itself always holds its form, even when full. This gives the most elegant, and custom look that makes me feel organized no matter what chaos I may face throughout my day. The organization of the interior pockets is comfortable. The trolly sleeve is an essential detail for me.
On a daily basis, my bag holds my Stanley water bottle, mine and my children’s electronics and chargers, essential work gear (I work in security), and there is still plenty of space left over.
The top carry handles button together, all snaps work as advertised, the shoulder straps are more comfortable than I had imagined, making the bag easy to wear throughout my day.
If you’re dreaming about this bag the way I had been, this is your sign to buy it!
Love this backpack!!

I bought this back after tons of research because I wanted something that would work easily both for work and travel. I have been using this bag for work, and have just gotten back from two weeks in Europe and can confirm that it's the real deal!!

No outside pocket takes some time to get used to, but the extra pouch attaches fairly easily. I used this for toiletries to use in the plane, or touch ups for work. If you keep it inside the backpack, there's plenty of space still, and if you keep it outside, it's pretty secure (but I still wouldnt be comfortable putting valuables in there).

The backpack itself is sturdy and well made. There are tons of pockets on the inside for organization. It holds a 16" Macbook Pro in the laptop pouch but doesn't make contact with the ground when you set it down. The water bottle holder fits my wide bottom 40 oz Hydroflask, and I like that it's not exposed like with an external pocket.

There is tons of space - I fit my ipad, hardback book, two toiletry bags, Airpod Max's, snacks, and a change of clothes easily in this backpack. It's constructed that it doesn't feel like it puts a ton of pressure on your shoulders when in use. Also visually, it looks beautiful and aesthetically pleasing. I'm super happy with this purchase.
