I loved the first pair of Xero shoes that I bought (men's Prio, worn for work that is mostly indoors) and have had them for over a year. So when I went looking for a barefoot shoe to fill in for a autumn/winter shoe I naturally turned to Xero first. I selected these boots, purposefully selecting a half size larger so I would be able to comfortably wear the boots with winter wool socks. I got the boots and wore them for about 15 min to see if they would work for me... to say that I was disappointment would be an understatement. I was surprised to feel that the boots had none of the barefoot qualities that I had come to expect. I figured this was just a one off and sent the boots back for a refund and contemplated which of the other styles would work for me. Xero then reached out and said that since I had worn the boots I would be offered one of the following options rather than a full refund:

"A one-time 70% purchase price refund minus a $9.99 restoking fee.
A one-time 100% purchase price store credit (non-refundable) - $9.99 restocking fee."

I am not sure how I would know if the boots would work for me without trying them on and wearing them, and I honestly really wanted to like them! I am so deeply disappointed in both these boots and the company policy that I will be finding a different barefoot shoe brand to patron.

This is my favorite everyday shoe I have ever owned. Comfortable for hikes and walking around town, and good looking enough for just about any social situation. I see some review mentioning the stiffness out of the box, especially compared to the old version. DON'T WORRY - just wear them a while. I promise that they will break in after a few weeks and become remarkably supple, while still remaining a fairly supportive "barefoot" shoe.

I give three stars because I am now on my third pair, after two warranty replacements. Within the first year on each of my first two pairs, the soles started separating in the toe area. Xero has been great about getting the replacement pairs out quickly, with no hassle. They send a prepaid label to send your old ones back, and they even say that they'll donate them if there is enough life left in them. BUT, despite how comfy the shoes are (and how great the customer service is) I unfortunately don't have a high level of confidence that this 3rd pair will make it through the year without the soles falling off again. We shall see. If there is a way to update the review later, I will.

I'm a huge fan of Xero Shoes. I own 3 pairs of running/walking shoes, 1 pair of casual slip ones, and 2 pairs of sandals, and now 2 pairs of hiking boots. That being said-I purchased these following their size chart (ordered my normal size as suggested). Normally Xero shoes is spot on with their sizing, but this pair was too small (I'm a women's size 8). I mean they kinda fit, but my toes touched the end, so I figure for hiking that wouldn't be good. So then I ordered the next size up (8.5) and they fit. The shipping takes a bit, and now I'm pretty sure I missed the return window for the pair that's too small. I might keep them for a spare "water pair" for when we're swimming in lakes or creeks, and keep the size that fits for the actual hiking trails. They are a good shoe, as are all the Xero shoes I own. I love the wider toe box, and the fit is just comfortable. They do take a bit of getting used to, when I first started wearing Xero's my calves were sore, as I'm not used to walking so much "barefoot" but now that I'm used to them, they are my go-to. I do admit- I cannot run in them, as I seem to be too flat-footed for running, and the impact seems to be more harsh then I'd like for my legs & back, but for walking and hiking and swimming they are great.

I love these boots. This was my first pair of barefoot shoes and I wear them every day where I am on my feet constantly for a full 8 hrs. of my 8.5 hr. shifts. I am moving all day long on concrete and asphalt and these Xeros continue to perform excellently. I have briefly tried other brands for comparison, but I have concluded that Xero is the absolutely best option for me, and I will be looking to transition all my future shoe purchases to Xero for my varied activities and socializing. I was researching the barefoot perspective and science when I came across and watched the interview that Steven did with Chase Mountains on YouTube. I was thoroughly impressed with Stevenīs integrity and subsequently with his story. That was me sold actually, on both the barefoot perspective and on Xero shoes themselves. I thought that Steven took a risk with that interview, and successful folks are often used to taking considered risks in their quest for excellence - that was another reason that I was immediately drawn to the company - so it was another risk that, in this case, paid off for Steven.
